Punjab votes in early 2027. Its new voter roll lands in October 2026. That's a tight squeeze.

The Special Intensive Revision's final roll for Punjab was scheduled for 19 October 2026. A few months later, the state goes to the polls. Every booth plan, every pind-level worker list, every "who's new on the roll" check has to happen in that window — on the new roll, not the old one.

The Punjab voter list in Excel is built to make that window enough: one workbook per constituency, one sheet per booth, every voter on one row, in Punjabi, English and Hindi.

Early 2027 Means the Booth Work Is Now

What a campaign has to get done between the final roll and polling day:

  1. See which voters SIR removed from each booth — and check them
  2. Find every new voter added since 2022
  3. Re-map booths that were split or renumbered
  4. Hand each booth sheet to its worker
  5. Track contact, booth by booth, through to polling day
  6. Do it for every constituency you're fighting in

From PDFs, step one alone eats weeks. From a sheet, it's a filter.

2017 to 2022: More Voters, Fewer Showing Up

The last two elections tell a story worth planning around.

20172022
Registered voters 2,00,29,646 2,16,09,482
Polling stations 22,615 24,740
Women per 1,000 men 886 895
Turnout (incl. postal) 77.2% 72.2%

Punjab added 15.8 lakh voters and 2,125 polling stations between the two elections — and turnout fell five points. More people on the roll, fewer at the booth. That's the gap booth teams spend 2027 trying to close. And you can't close it without knowing who those voters are.

Kaur, Kour, Kor – and Other Gurmukhi Traps

Gurmukhi OCR stumbles on small marks. The tippi and bindi nasal signs vanish on a faint scan, and a name quietly changes. Then English spelling makes it worse: ਕੌਰ becomes *Kaur* in one booth, *Kour* in the next, *Kor* in a third. Search for one and you find a third of the women in the constituency.

We keep the Gurmukhi exactly as printed, pick one English spelling per name and use it consistently across the file, and add Hindi for teams from outside Punjab. A person checks every name.
