Puducherry Voter List in Excel – SIR 2026, Tamil, Malayalam & Telugu

Puducherry is the only place in India where one small UT needs three different scripts to read its voter list.

It's four regions, hundreds of kilometres apart. Puducherry and Karaikal sit on the Tamil Nadu coast and use Tamil. Mahe is a tiny enclave inside Kerala and uses Malayalam. Yanam is surrounded by Andhra Pradesh and uses Telugu. One UT, one Lok Sabha seat, three scripts — and most converters can handle one of them at best.

The Puducherry voter list in Excel handles all three: one workbook per constituency, one sheet per booth, every voter on one row, names in the original script plus English and Hindi.

Why Mixed-Script Rolls Break Converters

Each script has its own traps, and we've hit every one:

• Tamil names carry an initial instead of a surname — R. Kumar — and the initial must not be dropped
• Malayalam has chillu letters (ൽ, ൻ, ർ) that OCR misreads, and Mahe rolls often list house names
• Telugu puts the family name first and stacks consonants that smear on scans
• Tamil to Hindi isn't letter for letter: கணேசன் should become गणेशन, not "कणेसन्"

The SIR 2026 Roll

Puducherry was in phase two of the Special Intensive Revision. The final roll was published on 14 February 2026 and used for the 2026 Assembly election. Deceased, shifted and duplicate entries came off; new voters came on.
